A good question for thinkers

I recently received a telephone call from a reader who asked me a question. The question was so direct, that it was poignant to perfection. The caller was genuinely concerned and troubled when she asked me…

“What difference does it make to Levi Page, if HaLeigh Cummings is dead or alive?”

Indeed, the Levi Page question has come up often.

The self-proclaimed radio personality has become an industry anomaly in the mysterious disappearance of HaLeigh Cummings.

It has become so pronounced it can simply no longer be ignored.

Levi Page is a relatively young kid that operates a Web radio program, loiters around Twitter, bickers over social networking, and sometimes appears via Skype on HLN tabloid television programs.

Where did he come from?

This young man appearing anywhere, to lecture adults about children and mature issues, is akin to a teenager delivering the sermon each week to all the grown-ups in the community at the local church.

The way this young man uses profanity, disrespects others, and insults people, makes one wonder if he is even allowed to sit at the adult table during family get-togethers.

But it’s his obsession with a kidnapping that is worrying people.

Page appears to be so deeply invested in the public perception of HaLeigh Cummings’ fate, that he brutally harasses and seriously threatens people if they publicly state the child is alive.

Levi Page is on a mission to convince the whole wide world that HaLeigh Cummings is dead. His focus and concern regarding this specific topic, appears to be so powerful it can thrust him into an x-rated frenzy of expletives and threats directed at anybody hat says HaLeigh is alive.

Essentially, this kid goes absolutely crazy if you say HaLeigh is alive.

“What difference does it make to Levi Page, if HaLeigh Cummings is dead or alive?”

Experienced broadcasters, newspaper reporters, magazine writers, publishers, and veteran of mass media will tell you they worked many years – grueling years of bad hours – writing what they were told.

After years of paying dues, some will earn awards from peers, and recognitions of excellence from reputable organizations, which they can demonstrate in a resume.

Seasoned reporters will recall working a beat, taking assignments, following a regimen, contacting officials, arranging interviews, etc. Learning how to be a news reporter requires years of experience – a good reporter has ‘shook a thousand shakin’ hands’.

There are no teenagers sitting around deciding truth from lie – declaring guilt from innocence – naming suspects – and never, ever does a reporter officially announce the un-official death of a five year-old girl.

There is no evidence Levi Page had ever received any training, or worked in the media industry before suddenly appearing on Web programs to talk about the missing child HaLeigh Cummings.

In 2011, Levi Page began harassing and threatening me on the telephone. He yelled, “This child is dead! She was dead in 2009 and she’s still dead now – stupid fucker!”

“What difference does it make to Levi Page, if HaLeigh Cummings is dead or alive?”

Good question.
